Trip Overview

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek takes you from the lakeside city of Pokhara into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a glacial basin surrounded by Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Hiunchuli.

It is shorter and lower than the Everest trek, making it ideal for first-time Himalayan trekkers. The return route passes the natural hot springs at Jhinu Danda.

Detailed Itinerary

    Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400 m)

    Airport pick-up and trip briefing.

    Day 2: Drive to Pokhara (822 m)

    Scenic 6–7 hour drive along the Trishuli river.

    Day 3: Drive to Siwai, trek to Chhomrong (2,170 m)

    Short drive then climb through terraced farmland.

    Day 4: Trek to Bamboo (2,310 m)

    Descend and climb through bamboo and rhododendron forest.

    Day 5: Trek to Deurali (3,230 m)

    Enter the narrow Modi Khola gorge.

    Day 6: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp

    Climb into the sanctuary surrounded by giant peaks.

Is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek good for beginners?

Yes. With a maximum altitude of 4,130 m and good teahouses, ABC is one of the best first Himalayan treks for fit beginners.

Can I trek to ABC in the monsoon?

It is possible but trails are slippery and views are often cloudy. We recommend spring or autumn.
