Trip Overview

Island Peak Climbing is the perfect introduction to Himalayan mountaineering. You follow the Everest trail to Dingboche and Chhukung for acclimatization, then set up base camp below the peak.

On summit day you climb fixed ropes up the headwall to the summit ridge with an experienced climbing guide, enjoying views of Lhotse, Makalu and Ama Dablam.

    Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400 m)

    Airport pick-up.

    Day 2: Preparation day in Kathmandu

    Climbing permit, equipment check and briefing.

    Day 3: Fly to Lukla, trek to Phakding (2,610 m)

    Mountain flight and short walk.

    Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440 m)

    Climb to the Sherpa capital.

    Short hike and rest.

Do I need climbing experience for Island Peak?

No previous climbing experience is required, but you should be very fit and comfortable at altitude. Basic training is given at base camp.
